About The Foundation

We are a registered charity for individuals and businesses to make tax deductible donations to a permanent financial legacy to benefit our community, now and forever.

FOUNDATION HISTORY

Airdrie & District Community Foundation was established on September 1, 2012 and has grown quickly since then. The permanent fund started with $11,000 and now totals more than $930,000.

As the fund has grown, so have the grants. From $5,500 in 2017 to $30,000 in 2024, thanks to the generosity of our donors. Along the way, registered charities in Airdrie and area have received nearly half a million dollars in Government of Canada funding through the Foundation.

What We Do

Community foundations take tax receipted gifts, and pool the funds to create a permanent legacy, by which the original principal of the gifts remain intact, and the investment income earned on the principal is donated to charities meeting the needs of the community.

“Inclusive. Forward-looking. Fair.” - Community Foundations of Canada

Creative. Community. Safe. Green. Fun. There are no end of words used to describe what we want our communities and country to be. However there is one word that sums it all up. Vital. The vitality of our communities is something community foundations greatly care about. Community vitality is the unique spirit that flourishes when people believe their community holds possibilities for everyone. And it can be measured by how well people’s needs are being met: from our most basic needs—sustenance, shelter, health care, safety—To those that give quality to life, such as places and opportunities to play, learn and create.
