Family Violence Prevention, Resolving Conflict, & More—Your Donations at Work
Where do your donations to the Airdrie and District Community Foundation go, and what do they achieve?
Here are examples from our 2025 grant recipients that show the impact of your generosity:
Supporting Families Facing Violence
Community Links received a Foundation grant to help fund a full-time Family Violence Counsellor. In early 2026, the organization reported,
“The Program was very successful, providing one on one support to community members to develop safety plans, connect to appropriate resources and receive therapeutic support. Additionally, this position facilitated the Women Supporting Women Group and provided public education at the Linking Together to Prevent Family Violence Event designated to increasing public awareness of family violence.”
“Community Links provides a variety of valuable programs and services to Community Members of all ages living in the North Rocky View Region of Alberta. On average, we provide a “link” to 11,000 residents a year as we work towards our Vision of Strong Individuals Strong Families Strong Communities.”
Teaching Students How to Resolve Conflict
Peer Mediation and Skills Training (PMAST) used its Foundation grant to help fund its Communication & Conflict Management skills programs to three Grade 6 classes,
“These 100 students learned to recognize their own conflict styles, what their triggers are and how to cope with it. They also learned to recognize the style of others with opposing opinions and to respect their ideas, question to learn more about different points of view, de-escalate situations and to utilize conflict to learn and to build stronger relationships and teams.
“The program was very well received, in fact I understand there was a request to provide programming for the Grade 7’s as well, however a lack of funding did not permit that program.”
“Empowering youth, families, and community to manage conflict effectively for a life better lived.”
Opening Doors Through Summer Camp
BGC Airdrie (The Airdrie Boys & Girls Club) received a grant that helped them pay staff involved in its Kinder Camp 2025. We will let this poster for the camp tell the story:
“Since 1979, BGC Airdrie Club (formerly Airdrie Boys’ & Girls’ Club) has been a safe and fun space, providing high quality affordable programs and services that are accessible to all children, youth and families of Airdrie and surrounding areas.”
Because of your support, more families were able to access quality summer programming for their children.
Quilts for Vulnerable Children
Project Linus used its 2025 funding from the Foundation to purchase quilt batting, yarn, fleece, printing supplies, quilting accessories, and to cover meeting room costs. That investment helped the quilting volunteers create over 700 blankets which were gifted to at least 560 children in need.
“Project Linus is a 100% volunteer registered charity. Our mission is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are in a crisis or seriously ill. Blankets are new, handmade and washable. The blanket is the child’s to keep.”
Mental Health Supports
Vecova’s Creative Coping Group Therapy program “is designed to provide mental health support for individuals in Airdrie, particularly those with disabilities and other barriers to accessing traditional therapy. The program uses creative expression—such as visual arts, music, and guided activities—as a therapeutic tool to help participants develop coping strategies, improve emotional regulation, and build resilience.
“Vecova is a leading edge, registered and accredited charity that has been meeting the lifelong and changing needs of persons with disabilities and the community since 1969 through our programs and services, social research and innovation and enterprises.”
Donors, take pride in what you helped make possible in 2025!
Without you, students would not have had an opportunity to learn how to prevent family violence. Because of you, other students learned how to recognize conflict styles and how to respond. Thanks to you, many children participated in summer camps that widened their horizons and helped them learn and grow. Other young people received comforting quilts, while folks with disabilities were helped in accessing therapy.
